  4. Drain the water and pound the roots with a potato masher or mortar and pestle until smooth.
  5. Return the fufu mixture to the saucepan and heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches a firm consistency.
  6. Season with salt.

Ingredients for the peanut sauce:

  • 200 g peanuts, unsalted and unroasted
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chilli powder (optional)
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Water


  1. Roast the peanuts in a pan without fat until golden brown. Allow to cool and then finely grind.
  2. Heat the oil in a saucepan and sauté the chopped onion and garlic until golden brown.
  3. Add the diced tomato and sauté for a few minutes until soft.
  4. Add the tomato paste, ground cumin, paprika, and chili powder (optional) and stir well.
  5. Add the ground peanuts to the saucepan and mix thoroughly.
  6. Add a little water as needed to achieve desired peanut sauce consistency.
  7. Let the sauce simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally to keep it from burning.
  8. Season with salt and add more spices if necessary to adjust the taste.

    Serve fufu with peanut sauce and enjoy

    To serve the delicious fufu with peanut sauce, simply take a portion of the fufu mixture and shape it into small balls or flat cakes. Then pour a generous amount of peanut sauce on top and garnish with fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley.
