You can easily make these Croatian stuffed peppers from peppers. All you have to do is hollow out the peppers and add the filling. You can read the recipe for it below. The result of these Croatian stuffed peppers is heavenly. I have made it for my family several times and the results and feedback have always been great. Just a simple recipe.
You can also just use rice and paprika powder for the filling of this recipe if you want a little variety.

Stuffed Croatian Peppers – Brief History

The history of stuffed peppers Croatian originally comes from the Middle East, from the Balkans. There it used to be filled with different grains, minced meat and other variations due to its box-like shape. The paprika stuffed with cheese, which is also prepared in Croatia, is also very popular.

  • about 1 kg of potatoes
  • 1 egg plant
  • salt, pepper, nutmeg, paprika,
  • oregano
  • 1 onion
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • Half a pumpkin (butternut)
  • 3-4 sprigs of oregano
  • 200g cocktail tomatoes
  • 1⁄2 tsp cinnamon
  • 50g butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 4-5 tbsp milk
  • 5 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable broth (instant)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • some grated cheese

Stuffed peppers Croatian – that’s how they taste particularly good

The version of the Croatian stuffed peppers is particularly suitable as a main course or as a side dish. It is also a popular dish for celebrations such as birthdays, which you can prepare yourself very quickly.

Step 1

First hollow out the peppers

Then cut the carrot, zucchini, aubergine and onion into small cubes.

Step 2

Bring everything to a simmer together with the tomato flesh in a saucepan (approx. 10-15min.)

Step 3

Then sauté everything briefly, season with garlic and the remaining spices and fill into the tomatoes.

Step 4

Stuff the peppers with the mozzarella. Here it works quite well if you put mozzarella on the peppers at the end before you put the pepper lid on

Step 5

In the oven at 180 degrees for about 20 minutes.
